Partition actions, constructive trusts, etc... are legal ways to state that one person either owns or has possession of property which another person claims they own or should have all or some possession of.  This can become very complicated very quickly.  That means that it can require experts to render opinions which means that it can cost lots of money to undo and in the end it may be undoable.  That means that it gets sold at a fire sale.

This is the harsh reality of jointly owned property.  Please be very careful.
